Travelling South East Asia: Railay Beach, Thailand Part 2

Some monkeys hang'n out by the pool

Paul discovered a cave on one end of the beach.  He did a test run and then brought us through.  It was not an easy climb and it is very likely that anyone else with a three year old and two other young kids would have turned around and said "no way."  But we know our kids are quite capable, and with some gentle pushing and encouragement they did a fantastic job climbing rocks and steep ladders with the aid of some ropes and a flash light in pitch darkness.  The end made it all worth it.  What a beautiful view!

Bed time Muay Thai fighting matches

This may be a random picture, but one morning Alana woke up with a
swollen foot and blisters like these.  I imagine she got bit by something,
but have no idea what.  Any guesses?

While the rest of us enjoyed a perfect day on the beach, Paul went on his own
little trek up a very steep cliff to a beautiful viewpoint and a lagoon.

Just as we were about to leave the beach, Paul joined us, so we decided to stay longer.
We ended up eating dinner on the beach, watching the sunset, and building a bonfire.
This was, for sure, one of my favourite memories of our trip.

Vince got stung, badly, by a jelly fish.  A local man made up a concoction
of a plant and fresh water to help take the sting away.

Boat Trip to the Phi Phi Islands

On our last day in Railay Beach we took a speed boat with 30 other people to visit a couple of beaches on and around the Phi Phi Islands.  We enjoyed some swimming and snorkelling while enjoying some beautiful sights along the way.

Jolene met her double.  Same hair and similar personalities.

Grandma and Grandpa's last night with us.

Leaving Railay Beach

After 6 nights in Krabi, we left Railay Beach and headed for the Phuket airport where we parted ways with mom and dad.  Saying good bye was not so easy.  We were sad and it was actually
neat to see how Jolene fully understood, this time around, what it meant for them to leave.
She was the most upset out of our kids.  What an amazing five weeks we spent with them and what a gift it was to share our lives in Jakarta with them and then a good portion of our summer break.  Next stop...Chiang Mai.
