Travelling South East Asia: Railay Beach, Thailand Part 1

To get to Railay Beach we stayed a night in a luxurious hotel (which means, it was a regular, westernized hotel room) in Kota Bahru, Malaysia.  We then took a flight to Kuala Lumpur to catch a flight to Krabi, Malaysia.  We ended up spending a week at Railay Beach, which was not planned.  We loved it there so much we decided to extend our stay.  I will, therefore, split this post into two parts.  We enjoyed so much of the nature here and it is really hard to pick and choose which pictures to post.

It was a nice treat to veg out and watch tv for a little while.

Cave Exploring

Okay, so this was a bit interesting.  We came across a shrine that was
full of wooden penises.  Of course we thought it was hilarious and the
kids were having fun with it.  However, the purpose of the shrine was
for local Thais to come to in order to pray to the "god of fertility" to ensure
they have a baby.

Oh, the innocence of children.

 

There is a significant difference as the tide goes in and out.

Kayaking Trip

This outing was one of my favourites.  We travelled to another location by boat and minibus where we kayaked into caves and a lagoon.  After lunch we were then transported to a place where we could swim in clear, cool water.  Everything we did and saw was just spectacular.

and stalagmites form unique shapes.  Just use your
imagination and you can see all sorts of things.
