Steps of Faith: Adventures in Jakarta (Part One)

Paul is the adventurous one in this family. He is the one that keeps us exploring even when we don't know where we are going. I am slowly learning to trust him as he learns to navigate himself around the city of Jakarta. It may take us a lot longer to get to a place as we figure out the roads, but Paul gets us where we need to be. This post is part one of two of a few different trips we've done into Jakarta.

Blok M

We visited Blok M, which is a large area of shopping malls and stores, but also a little park that we enjoyed for a bit. It is a popular place to visit for the bargain shopping and for the nightlife... we didn't stay for the nightlife. We enjoyed walking around the stores, watching people, and drinking a slurpee from 7-Eleven.

These are technically called Doctor Fish and they eat the dead skin of off your body.
We didn't take the time to put our feet in but Vince tested it out.

While walking around the mall we stopped at a carpet place where they kids literally took their shoes and socks
off within seconds and laid down on the rugs. We do not have any rugs or carpet to be seen in
our house so the kids have been a little deprived of this "luxury".

Skating
Blok M was actually a bit of a last minute plan as we were planning to go skating that day. However, we got a little lost and then also found out from the Huizenga's that the line up for skating was 100 people long. We decided to try it first thing in the morning the next day. Blok M was a fun side trip, and skating first thing the next morning was a much better plan. A lot less people and so much fun!

Unfortunately Jolene was sick, so Paul stayed home with her. She probably wouldn't have enjoyed it anyway.
Paul on the other hand misses his hockey and still needs to get his skating fix.
